Eagles Crush Cowboys 34-7, LeSean McCoy Runs Wild

LeSean McCoy had a career day in a national spotlight against the league's previously top-ranked rushing defense.
LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD, PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles scored on each of their first six possessions and LeSean McCoy ran for a career high 185 yards and two touchdowns against the league’s top ranked rushing defense as the Birds annihilated the Dallas Cowboys, 34-7. Michael Vick was stellar as well, completing 21-of-28 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions.
The Eagles wasted no time asserting themselves, winning the opening coin toss and driving 79 yards on eight plays, the last of which was a 12-yard touchdown from Vick to Jeremy Maclin. The Cowboys showed blitz on the play, but the Eagles had the perfect answer with a bubble screen for a 7-0 lead.
Jason Babin and Trevor Laws each notched a sack of Tony Romo on his first drive of the night, leading to a punt and a seven play, 90-yard touchdown drive by the Birds. LeSean McCoy’s 2-yard touchdown run, set up by his own 34 yard scamper, left Philadelphia in control at 14-0.
On the third play of the following drive, Tony Romo’s pass for Martellus Bennett was tipped in the air by Moise Fokou and intercepted by Nnamdi Asomugha at the Philadelphia 33-yardline. This time the Birds navigated the 67 yards in 11 plays, with Vick finding Brent Celek in the back of the end zone for a 9-yard touchdown and a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.
Philadelphia tacked on a 23-yard field goal by Alex Henery to take a 24-0 lead into halftime. At the break, the Birds already had 140 rushing yards on a defense that was giving up a mere 69.7 per game. Philadelphia took a 20-4 edge in first downs and a 324-92 advantage in total yards into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Eagles added a 26-yard Henery field goal and McCoy continued to assert himself, topping the 100-yard mark for the sixth time in his career. McCoy added a fourth quarter touchdown run of 13 yards, which put him over his previous career high of 149 yards set on December 12, 2010 in a 30-27 win over the Cowboys. The run also moved McCoy past Buffalo’s Fred Jackson for the league lead in average rushing yards per game.
Dallas broke up the shutout when Romo hit Laurent Robinson for a 70-yard bomb down the sideline, but the Philadelphia defense still had plenty to be proud of on a night when it racked up four sacks and an interception against the league’s fourth ranked passing attack. Babin finished with two sacks, while Trent Cole and Laws each added one. Romo finished the night a pedestrian 18-of-35 for 203 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
With the win, the Eagles created a three-way tie with the Cowboys and Giants at 3-4 in the NFC East, two games behind the division-leading Giants.
